TOMMY GA-KEN WAN
“Ga-Ken Wan follows his own fascinations and doesn’t flinch from the challenges... photographs which capture something of the modern urban experience.”
Tommy Ga-Ken Wan graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2007, and is currently based in Glasgow.
At the age of fourteen, Tommy was gifted his first camera by his parents. Within three years, and without formal training, his work had been published in national press, and exhibited in London and the United States.
At the age of nineteen he embarked on a trip to Pakistan, funded by the British Council. The acclaim his work received sparked a career that includes projects in Las Vegas, London, Rotterdam, Paris and Hong Kong. His diverse work includes portraiture of some of the most recognized names in film, television and politics, documenting theatre productions and conferences in the United States and across Europe, assisting with a local school project supported by the National Theatre of Scotland, and documenting Glasgow’s arts and nightlife.
Tommy has delivered lectures on his work before audiences at the University of Glasgow and the High Commission of Pakistan. Between 2010 and 2012, he was the resident judge for The Big Shot, a photography, themed reality TV show in Singapore.
